Traditional housing in Mexico is being rapidly transformed by various factors, including urbanization in rural areas, government programs that promote and encourage the use of industrialized materials, and public housing policies that reject and deny the importance of traditional construction systems.

 

This panorama leads to the loss of the tangible and intangible architectural heritage of the native peoples. In other words, not only architectural objects are at risk, but the knowledge that exists behind the vernacular dwelling.

 

This project aims to document and analyze the current state of traditional housing in Mexico and its transformation, as well as the territorial adaptations that have emerged in rural areas of our country.
