CURRENT STATE OF TRADITIONAL HOUSING IN MEXICO

Traditional housing in Mexico is being rapidly transformed by various factors, including the urbanization of rural areas, government programs that promote and encourage the use of industrialized materials and public housing policies that reject and deny the importance of traditional construction systems .

This scenario leads to the loss of the tangible and intangible architectural heritage of the indigenous peoples. That is, the architectural objects are not at risk but the knowledge that exists behind the vernacular housing.

This project aims to document and analyze the current state of traditional housing in Mexico and its transformation, as well as the territorial adaptations that have emerged in rural areas of our country.
